The Cape to Cape track is approximately a 135km walk from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin. It follows the coast for most of the way, sometimes along the beach, sometimes along cliff-tops, often on sandy tracks, but nearly always with a view of the wonderful coastline.
Further south it travels inland to take in the magnificent Boranup Forest before returning to the coast for a challenging walk along the blowholes and Deepdene Beach to Augusta. By carrying only a day-pack (for most of the walk) and walking the track in graded stages, people with a moderate level of fitness should be able to complete the walk. Preparation will make the experience all the more enjoyable. Excellent food, comfortable accommodation (tent) and our knowledgeable guide, Sallie Watson will complement your trip.
Brief Trip Outline
11.00 - Meet at Dunsborough for the drive to the start at Cape Naturaliste (day 1)
12.30 start - Walk from Cape Naturaliste to Yallingup (walking days 2-7)
Return to Perth, arriving early afteroon, approx 2.00/3.00pm (day 8)
Route - You will be walking between 14-26 km each day carrying a day pack. There is no such thing as an easy day on the Cape to Cape! You will need to have a moderate level of fitness as there are some steep sections. Beach walking can be tough too and the sand is not confined to the beaches. The total distance is approximately 135km. Each day we will resume the walk from where we finished the previous day.
Accommodation - twin share in tents 6 nights and 1 night in Augusta Hotel/Motel (included in trip price), other options available at an additional cost and on request.
Food - all meals are included with the exception of 2 lunches and 2 dinners as it's nice to provide you with some choice, particularly as there is opportunity to go to a winery if you wish or enjoy a pub meal.
Transport - self drive or car pool from Perth to Dunsborough. (Parking to be confirmed) Support vehicle will transport packs, supplies and will be available in case of medical emergency.
Cost - $1645 (Normal Price) & $1600 (Adventure Plus Member's Discounted Price)

0800hrs - 1400/1500hrs (Day Pack)
Day 4: Gracetown to Rivermouth (Prevelly Caravan Park) - 18km
Many ups and downs on this day too. Sandy coastal walking to Ellensbrook - lunch and then a 2km stretch on the beach just before Rivermouth, but this is usually hard packed sand.
0800hrs - 1500/1600hrs (Day Pack)
Day 5: Rivermouth (Prevelley Caravan Park) to Conto Field Campsite - 20km
Our day starts with inland walking, crossing Boodijup Brook. Some steep sections before it drops to Redgate Beach for another 2.5km of beach walking. Then back onto the cliffs past Conto Field Campsite to Point Road. Spectacular cliff top views between Bob's Hollow and Conto's. Although this is a long distance, the track goes into the forest in the afternoon and after a long uphill stretch, it is easy walking. Despite the distance, this day is not usually rated as the most difficult.
0730hrs - 1700hrs (Day Pack)
Day 6: Conto Field Campsite to Hamelin Bay - 22km
Ups and downs on 4WD tracks back to the beach. Then a usually pleasant beach stretch of about 6km! Challenging walk, but interesting.
0800hrs - 1500/1600hrs (Day Pack)
Day 7: Hamelin Bay to Cape Leeuwin - 25km
This can be quite an exciting day, especially if it's windy. Much of the walking is along a limestone ledge close to the sea, complete with blowholes! There is also a long beach stretch - about 6km. A difficult but exciting day's walk, to finish of the trip.
0800hrs - 1500/1600hrs (Day Pack)
Note: These times are estimates only. The plan may be altered depending upon local conditions and weather at the time.
