The Kosciuszko National Park features the highest mountains in Australia.  Fabulous granite formations, green alpine meadows filled with wild flowers and broad views in all directions make for an excellent walking holiday.  Adventurous Women, along with our friends at Park Trek, are pleased to share this amazing experience with you.

Day 1 – 7km (easy to moderate)

Today sees us arriving into Jindabyne around mid-morning where we stop for morning tea. Then it’s on to our lodge where we can gear up for our first days’ outing.

Today’s walk follows alongside the cascading waters of the Thredbo River from Dead Horse Gap back into the village. Upon your return to the Kiama Lodge where we enjoy a two-course dinner prepared by your guides.

Meals: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2 – 12km (moderate to hard)

After breakfast and lunch making we depart the lodge and head out for a delightful walk out to the Porcupine.

The track wanders through snowgrass, snow gums and small shrubs to reach a large group of granite boulders which provide an extensive view of the Main Range and Thredbo Valley.

Lunch is enjoyed on the trail and we head back to the Lodge for the evening and a two-course dinner prepared by your guides.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 – 12km (moderate to hard)

After breakfast and lunch making we head out for our walk to Charlotte’s Pass. Today’s walk sees us walking along a well formed track up to Carruthers Peak enjoying superb views of Lake Albina and Blue Lakes.

It is a challenging start with a climb up to the top of the Main Range. Needless to say the views are sublime and the lunchtime view overlooking Blue Lakes is delightful.

From the top of Carruthers Peak there are amazing views over the western slopes of the Main Range and the walk out to Lake Albina is diverse and very scenic. It is a challenging day of walking and we return to our accommodation in the afternoon for some well-deserved nibbles followed by a two-course dinner prepared by your guides.

Please note that if there has been significant rain in the area then this days outing may be compromised as the river crossing at the start may prove to be too hazardous. In which case we will enact a contingency.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4 – 18km (hard)

After the usual breakfast and lunch making our day starts with a bit of a difference. We take a chairlift ride to the top of the Thredbo ski fields, walk to the top of Mt. Kosciusko and return via Dead Horse Gap.

It is a long day but worth the effort. You can opt to take the chairlift back down if you feel like opting out of the afternoon walk.

Tonight we dine out at a local Thredbo restaurant.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 5 – 8km (easy)

After breakfast, we pack up our belongings and the guides will pack the trailer. This morning we take a walk following the river down to the Thredbo Diggings. It is a short walk followed by lunch back at Thredbo.
