Botswana and Zimbabwe: more than just a safari

Some trips are so memorable that one departure simply isn't enough.

After a wonderful inaugural journey through Botswana and Zimbabwe in 2024, we're bringing it back in 2027. Inspired by the wildlife encounters, the landscapes and the fantastic feedback from our travellers, we've refined the itinerary to make an already special experience even better.

While many people hear 'Botswana' and immediately think of safari, this journey is so much more. Over two weeks we'll experience five completely different adventures, each revealing a new side of Southern Africa. From game drives in world-famous national parks to drifting through the Okavango Delta, sleeping beneath millions of stars on the salt pan, and finishing beside the mighty Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, every stop offers something unique.

Into the wild: Moremi National Park

Our adventure begins in the spectacular Moremi National Park, a premier wildlife destination.

For three nights we'll enjoy comfortable camping while spending two full days exploring the park with experienced local guides. Travelling in open 4x4 safari vehicles provides uninterrupted views as we watch for elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes and the other species that call this remarkable ecosystem home.

At the end of the day we'll return to our deluxe safari tents, complete with proper camp beds, before gathering in the open dining area to share stories beneath the star-filled sky. It's the perfect balance of proper wilderness and comfortable camping.

Okavango Delta by boat

Just when you think you've seen Botswana's wildlife, everything changes.

Our full-day boat excursion into the Okavango Delta reveals an entirely different side of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Instead of dusty tracks and safari vehicles, we'll glide through waterways surrounded by lush vegetation.

The Delta's rich ecosystems support an extraordinary variety of wildlife and birdlife, and the slower pace lets us really appreciate the beauty of this environment. It's a peaceful, immersive day where the journey is every bit as memorable as the wildlife.

Sleeping under the stars at Ntwetwe Pan

If there's one experience that truly sets this journey apart, it's our overnight adventure on Ntwetwe Pan.

The endless white salt flats create a landscape unlike anywhere else on the trip. As the sun sinks below the horizon, we'll enjoy a BBQ dinner.

Rather than tents, we'll spend the night in traditional swags laid out directly on the Pan. With no fences, no buildings and virtually no light pollution, it's an unforgettable chance to sleep beneath millions of stars in a remote, magical landscape.

The following morning, as we head back to Gweta, we'll visit a local meerkat colony, where there's a good chance of seeing these curious little characters up close.

Chobe National Park by land and water

Our next stop is Chobe Mopani Forest Lodge, where comfortable chalets overlook a natural waterhole. If we're lucky, we'll watch herds of elephants gathering right from our accommodation.

The adventure continues with a morning safari through Chobe National Park, renowned for having one of Africa's largest elephant populations, along with lions, buffalo, antelope and an abundance of other wildlife.

Then we'll swap four wheels for a boat during a two-hour river safari. Elephants swimming, hippos wallowing, crocodiles basking on the riverbanks and colourful birdlife overhead make for a completely different wildlife experience.

Victoria Falls, the perfect finale

Our final destination is one of the world's greatest natural wonders.

With two full days at Victoria Falls, there's plenty of time to explore at our own pace. There are optional activities to suit any adventure level. Helicopter flights and sunset cruises are popular choices, while those seeking more adrenaline can try whitewater rafting or zip-lining across the gorge.

Our trip wraps up with a memorable farewell dinner at a traditional Zimbabwean restaurant, where we'll share memories of our two weeks in Southern Africa.
