Day Trips & Events

COVID-19 POLICY Day Hikes and Events

We have considered the current situation and given that our day hikes and events are "self drive" and conducted in the great outdoors, we will proceed with these as planned but ask that everyone ensure they practice the social distancing and heightened levels of hygiene recommendations.

Active outdoor activities are essential for mental wellbeing and healthy living and we will do our best to continue offering these, however, we are closely monitoring the rapidly changing recommendations and will update our policies as required.

If you have been in close contact with someone recently returned from overseas, are experiencing flu like symptoms such as sore throat, lethargy & a dry cough in the lead up to one of our hikes, please contact us and we will issue you with a credit for a future walk so that you can re-book when you're well.

Practical advice when hiking

Distancing yourself from others and maintaining good hygiene is the best defence for reducing your chances of contracting any illness:

  • Wash your hands frequently with biodegradable soap at least 100m from water sources. When water is limited and soap is not an option, use hand sanitizer that contains 60-95% alcohol.
  • Avoid sharing food. Do not eat out of the same food bag, share utensils or drink from other hikers water bottles.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Ideally cough or sneeze into your shoulder or use the crook of your arm (inner elbow) or a tissue and dispose of it using Leave No Trace Principles. Then ensure you wash or sanitise your hands after.
  • Keep 1.5m (one and a half metres) distance between you and other hikers whenever possible and avoid handshakes, hugs, high fives and other close contact. Waving or foot taps are safer ways to greet.
  • If you begin to feel sick, take responsibility for the well-being of others. Stay away from other walkers and self-isolate at home ASAP until you get better and/or have been cleared by a medical professional.

Ride, Sip & Savour Ocean View QLD

Sat 29th May 2021 | Karen H

I hadn't ridden for around 20 years but had missed horse riding greatly as it was a passion of my younger self. The 5 hour ride was great as it gives you time to get into the groove or riding and build your confidence back up. By the end of the ride we were trotting And cantering. Slickers staff were wonderful and gave each of us riders the time to choose when we felt confident to go at faster pace. It was such a great day out, wonderful views and scenery and lunch at Oceanview winery was delicious. I would do this again in a heartbeat.
