After we leave our meeting spot we follow the caves circuit as it winds up through open eucalypt forest and passing through the Kweebani Caves, think back to a time when they sheltered the original inhabitants of this area - the Yugambeh Aboriginal kinship group and enjoy the change as the eucalyptus give way to rainforest tree species.
Beyond the caves you will see a seat commemorating Robert Collins who fought to protect this landscape for the future and pause for a minute to take in the brilliant views down the Coomera Valley, and across the Darlington Range and rhyolite cliff line. As you look along the cliff line see if you can spot what is possibly the largest intact stand of hoop pine in Australia.

From here we will climb to the summit of Mount Roberts through rainforests of immense red cedars and other trees. We will then detour to Bellbird Lookout before returning to the start for morning tea. (This section is 8.5kms)

After morning tea those who are ready to go again can join us with a return walk down to Gwongoorool Pool (5km return)
