Immerse yourself in high value nature!

Our Murray River Walk n Cruise is a journey through the Riverland Ramsar Wetland of International Importance, renowned for its waterbirds, red gum forests and the nationally threatened Southern bell frog and the Regent parrot. Encounters with Red and Grey Kangaroos, emus, black swans and pelicans are common and 179 bird species have been recorded, including the spectacular Red-capped Robin and mischievous Fairywrens.

Managed environmental watering in the ephemeral wetlands on this landscape attracts thousands of waterfowl, spoonbills, ibis and egrets, and new water triggers a cacophony of frogs calling. Flowering Eucalypts, wattles and emu bush dwarf the pretty pink carpets of flowering "pigface”.

Our destination today is spectacular Headings Cliffs on the Murray River where your houseboat accommodation is moored.

Traverse Reny Island through red gum forest and black box woodlands to the Ral Ral Creek Widewaters for lunch. Follow Argo Creek to the Murray River and discover the wreck of the P.S. Kelvin barge. After sunrise, we descend for breakfast aboard the houseboat. Departing for our daily walk, we follow an ancient river oxbow to the present Murray River corridor for morning tea. Explore dense red gum forest on the way to lunch on the river bank, then follow the Amazon Creek through Little Hunchee Island before meeting the creek cruiser for a lovely afternoon river cruise to the houseboat, moored on the banks of the Murray River.
