Escape the city and head to the forest..... This is one of our favourite little getaways on the Bibb!

Not only do we take you walking in beautiful forested areas along the Bibbulmun Track, we also drop into heritage listed Golden Valley Tree Park and enjoy a wander, stop in at bustling Bridgetown for a squiz and stay at charming Donnelly River Village where you're immersed in nature and surrounded by friendly wildlife.

Highlights

● Visiting The Heritage Listed Site - Golden Valley Tree Park

● Walking through transitioning forest, from jarrah, through marri, to karri. These tree species are found only in WA.

● The colours, contrasts and abundant variety of fungi to be found during this time of year

● Donnelly River Village - An old mill town converted into a holiday village with abundant kangaroos, emus and other wildlife

● The river is a companion for much of this section, with riverside campsites, restful swimming holes & old-growth karri forest.

Itinerary

We leave Perth at 8.00am and travel to The Golden Valley Tree Park where you'll be able to go for a wander and explore. We will make a brief stop en-route for morning tea and to use the toilet facilitates. We'll spend about an hour at the park, afterwards heading to Bridgetown where you can grab some lunch (own expense) and have a squiz at the shops or take a stroll around town. On leaving Bridgetown it's only a short drive to our unique ‘Old Boarding House' accommodation at Donnelly River Village. Time to settle in, crank the fire and enjoy our first group dinner together.

Meals: Dinner

Today we begin our walking journey from the Karri Gully Picnic Spot and into the deep forested areas of the Bibbulmun. You’ll be mesmerized by the beauty of this area, it’s density, it’s soft underfoot, fungi are plentiful and the transition of jarrah and marri trees to the giant karri trees become evident. We finish off our day at Donnelly River Village, which is an experience in itself, as we get up close and personal with the semi-tame Kangaroos and Emu’s who inhabit the area. Today’s walk, although lengthy, is mainly on gentle undulating terrain, which makes it comfortable and very achievable in the time frame given.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning, we leave Donnelly River walking south through Jarrah forest, returning to Karri forest again around the 5k mark, before finishing off in the afternoon at Twin Bridges. Again another stunning area, lots of different varieties of fungi, abundant flora and fauna and massive towering Karri trees.

Today’s walk weaves along gentle undulating terrain until lunch time, when we then encounter a few ups and downs, which makes the walk a little more challenging than yesterday’s. The beauty of today’s walk is sure to take your mind off those little challenging sections.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Another day in paradise! We leave Twin Bridges, where the Donnelly River becomes our companion for the rest of our walk, along with lovely Karri forest, plenty of birdlife, little rapids and valleys to enjoy. We pass through one of the prettiest campsites on the track “Tom Road Campsite”, perched on the river, where you’ll have time to explore, before moving onto Greens Island and finishing early on in the afternoon at One Tree Bridge. No major hill climbs on this day, just enjoy the serenity of the forest, while walking along at a steady pace. When finished on the track today, we board the bus for our trip back to Perth, stopping on the way to grab a bite to eat. We envisage that we will reach the city at around 6.30pm.

The Old Boarding house is a comfortable warm old house, equipped with a combination of single and bunk beds, in different rooms, which you will be sharing with other ladies from the group. You are required to BYO Linen / Sleeping Bag & Pillow.  We cannot provide a single supplement due to the configuration of the boarding house, so earplugs will ensure that you get the rest required, if you're a light sleeper.  Top Bunk Bed Mattresses will be taken off and placed on the floor where there is only one queen bed in a room to accommodate a twin share arrangement.  Rooms and sleeping arrangements will be by way of a 'draw' so you'll be paired up with another lady in the group, unless you are travelling with a friend/family and have told us prior to departure.

What To Bring/Wear

- You will be supplied with a list of "What to Bring" closer to our departure.

More Information

No Princess Policy

Princess crossed out

You are in for an 'adventure' and it's FUN!  We will be staying in 'the Old Boarding House'!  The accommodation has been specifically chosen to keep costs down for you - it's not camping, and it's not having a room to yourself either, nor having your linen supplied - We like to think of it as being somewhere in the middle.  You will still be provided with the very best of service, knowledge & experience Adventurous Women are known for.

I absolutely loved the walk . I had no expectations as it was my first walk with AW but it was so good in every way. The accommodation was great , the food was excellent ,the guides were wonderful and so caring .

I can't think of any way it could be improved , except maybe having another place to stay in between the swan valley and New Norcia ,as it was a long drive back the last couple of days .
