Let us introduce you to an area of Perth that is steeped in aboriginal culture and history, and provide an insight to some of the local Indigenous culture as we go. The Wardun Beelier Bidi (Coast to River Trail) connects the Indian Ocean with the Swan River, forming the southernmost section of the Whadjuk Network of trails and is an urban adventure you’ll remember forever!
Join us as we explore a magnificent area of our beautiful city providing spectacular views out to Rottnest Island and equally breathtaking views back to our city skyline. We will be following an 18 km loop walk starting at the Grant Marine Park in Cottesloe and passing Chidley Point, Mudurup Rocks, Minim Cove and Garungup with a few steep little climbs along the way.
We'll wander our way through residential areas, passing by stately residences as well as jaw dropping modern mansions. The riverside bays and walkways will have you entranced as we thread our way along boardwalks floating off limestone cliffs and onto little sandy beaches and beautifully manicured parks all offering the most gorgeous views across the river. As you walk look out for Osprey, White faced Heron and Carnaby’s Cockatoos who feed from the parrot bushes along the riverside. We may even catch a glimpse of the Rainbow Bee-Eater which returns from it's annual migration to the Kimberley around this time each year.
Before we head back to the beach we will visit 'the Big Guns' at Leighton that protected our city during WWII before finally strolling back along the coastline to finish back where we started.
If you're in the mood join our AW host at the famous OBH or 'Obie' (Ocean Beach Hotel) for a celebratory drink!
