On this Friday adventure Caron and Kat are keeping it close to home.
We are travelling just a little north of The Gap to BellBird Grove, where we will take on the trail to Camp Mountain.
Bellbird Grove is a beautiful area nestled at the base of Mt Nebo. There is an abundance of picnic areas, walking tracks and open fields for family weekend BBQ's & picnics. Many families use this area on weekends to bring everyone together as there’s plenty of open space and parking.
Our adventure takes us in a slightly different direction. Leaving from Bellbird Grove we will be heading up to Camp Mountain - this steep but manageable walk will get your heart racing as you climb to the top. This site forms part of the historic Enoggera goldfields, and it's here prospectors camped while trying to make their fortune in the search for gold.
From here we have panoramic views south to the Brisbane skyline and north out to Moreton Bay and the Glass House Mountains. The numerous tallowwood trees in the surrounding forest that host beautiful white blooms in the wintertime, are home to honeyeaters, grey headed flying foxes, scaly-breasted lorikeets and gliders.
We will take in the views and rest a little before heading back down on a slightly different route to Bellbird Grove where coffee, tea and special Friday treats await.
