Itinerary

Our guides will collect all guests from outside the National Gallery of Victoria, St Kilda Road at 8am on the day of departure. The Grampians is a three hour drive from Melbourne so we have a stop in Beaufort for morning tea before arriving around lunchtime into our place of stay in Halls Gap. After lunch it is time to strap on the boots and depart for an afternoon walk that begins at the Brambuk Visitor Centre, crosses Fyan’s Creek and an easy walk takes us to the base of the Mt William Range, where it begins a steady climb. Finally we top out at Boronia Peak with panoramic views over the Wonderland Range and surrounding peaks. Retracing our footsteps we will return to the coach and our place of stay by late afternoon.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: D’Altons Retreat or Similar

After a hearty, continental breakfast and with our day’s lunch packed away in our day pack, we begin our walk from the heart of Halls Gap. The trail begins alongside Stony Creek and rises towards Wonderland. The imagery and the unique shaping of the rocks gives rise to features like the Elephant Hide and the Grand Canyon. We emerge out onto the rocky spine of the Pinnacle, one of today’s visual spectacles. After lunch our days’ walk continues on a more even footing out to Sundial Peak where you can rest and soak up another stunning view.

From here the days’ walking winds up at the Mount Rosea Campground. A short drive later and we have you back in our accommodation where you

can freshen yourself up and then re-group for pre-dinner nibbles followed by a two-course dinner prepared by your guides.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: D'Altons Retreat or Similar

A challenging morning walk to the peak of Mount Rosea. The climb is challenging but the path is well formed and shaded before topping out at the summit of Mount Rosea. It makes a superb spot for lunch and time to enjoy your reward for your morning’s efforts. The trail from here winds down to

where it finishes at Borough Huts. Back to our place of stay for some well-earned respite, while our guides prepare the nibbles and a two course dinner.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: D'Altons Retreat or Similar

This morning’s walk takes us to the top of Mount William, the highest peak in the Grampians. It is only a short walk and of a moderate nature but the views are amazing. You’re able to look right along the entire length of the Grampians as it stretches north and south.

Our morning walk takes us back to our coach and a short drive later we are back in Halls Gap where you can buy your lunch for the last day (lunch today is at your own expense) before we begin our journey back to Melbourne. We’ll have a short break in the town before getting back into Melbourne around 4.00 to 5.00pm.

Accommodation

We spend 3 nights in Halls Gap. Our accommodation is either D’Altons Retreat or Grampians Pioneer Cottages.

D’Altons is located within a few minutes walk of the main township at Halls Gap and features modern facilities and amenities, including an outdoor salt water pool (so don’t forget to bring your swimmers after a day’s walking!). We stay in lovely two bedroom log cabins which have been designed with functionality and space in mind. The Cottages are generously spread over our bush site to utilise the magnificent views of the Grampians ranges. The Cottages are constructed of rough sawn hardwood and complement the ambience of the National Park. Each cottage is fully self-contained and comprises 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, toilet, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, dining area and spacious verandah. You can choose a single supplement if you would prefer not to share a bedroom, this means you would have one bedroom in the two bedroom cabin and are likely to be sharing the cabin (and bathroom) with one or two other guests.

At Grampians Pioneer Cottages we stay in three and two bedroom cottages, each has shared bathroom facilities for each individual cottage, a living and kitchen area. Grampians Pioneer Cottages is a natural country retreat where you stay in self-contained accommodation uniquely built from Australian and New Zealand reclaimed timbers, stone, mudbrick, corrugated iron and 100 year old redbrick.

Sunday Triple Trail Meander Midland WA

Sun 17th October 2021 | Kay W

This was a lovely triple walk. Each one was easy with nice breaks in between to recover if needed. I absolutely loved the last walk and it’s wonderful cascading waterfalls. Meeting at a designated spot in midland and car pooling was a great idea. And the food that was available at the meeting spot was delicious. No need to pre pack your lunch. Yum…..

And as always Jazzy was full of information about the areas we were visiting.

Another Day on Straddie Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island) QLD

Sun 10th October 2021 | Cass D

Great day, but a very long one. Would have loved to had had a longer walk with BYO lunch at Point Lookout rather than lunch at the pub just because of the time it takes with that many people. Overall fabulous day . Girls always pull out the fantastic goodies for afternoon tea which is so lovely.

This was a great walk - beautiful place to walk. Betty is fantastic - there is never any pressure to try and keep up with the group and so I can walk at my own pace - with Betty keeping a close eye out.

The Highlights of The Bibbulmun Track (Ex Perth) WA

Sue was always at hand when we needed her, and the meals were great. Jazz looked after us all day, and I think I got extra attention because I was old, although I think she will agree that I managed OK. And Leonie was just an extra bonus, especially with her i-phone tips.

Flinders Peak has been on my bucket list for a few years now and I am so glad that I have finally reached the summit. It is not an easy hike but it is challenging in that it is mostly uphill with a rocky ridge to walk along and many more rocks to climb. I loved it and would do it again. Thanks AW for hosting a great day out. As usual, your guides are welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful.
