Itinerary

Welcome to NZ! You'll be met on arrival at Christchurch airport by one of our representatives and transferred to your hotel. If you have time to explore the city, there are many options available.

Set against the majestic alps to ocean backdrop, Christchurch ‘The Garden City’ is a mix of urban regeneration, creativity and innovation, with stunning gardens and parks, the serene Avon River, restaurants and bars, street art and vibrant retail areas, all the while staying true to it’s heritage, offering a traditional English feel.

At 5.30pm Join with our Adventurous Women Tour Manager and fellow travellers in the Hotel Lobby. Once introductions have been made, it’s off to a nearby restaurant to get to know each other and enjoy our first dinner together.

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Ibis Hotel

This morning we travel through the vast Canterbury Plains and into the foothills of the Southern Alps. Weather permitting, we’ll will stop in at Castle Rock and explore the limestone formations.

As we travel up the main divide we’ll stop at Arthurs Pass for lunch and take a short walk to Devil’s Punchbowl Falls. Arthurs Pass is the highest and most spectacular pass in the Southern Alps

From Arthurs Pass we continue over the main divide, travel via Hokitika Gorge to the world famous Fox Glacier. Just on dusk, if you’re looking for a relaxing walk, we recommend the Minnehaha Walk, the trailhead is right next to our accommodation. It’s a short loop walk (about 20 minutes return) following a stream through the rainforest. Glow worms inhabit the roots of fallen and hollow trees and line the banks along the stream. These are a delight to see ....like stars in the sky and can easily spotted during your walk.

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Bella Vista Fox Glacier

This morning we take a short drive to Lake Matheson, near Fox Glacier where nature has combined exactly the right ingredients to create truly stunning reflections of New Zealand’s highest peaks - Aoraki (Mount Cook) and Mount Tasman. After capturing the beauty of the sun rising over the lake, mirroring the mountains, it’s time to stretch the legs. We’ll hike the 2.6 loop trail around the lake to get the appetite up, then enjoy breakfast at Lake Matheson Cafe. There is an option to do a 40 minute short walk, or just sit at the Cafe and soak in the views.

The remainder of the day is free for you to explore. We highly recommend that you take the opportunity to join a Guided Heli Hike onto Fox Glacier, (additional cost), a once in a lifetime opportunity!!

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Bella Vista Fox Glacier

After breakfast this morning prepare to be dazzled, as we take one of the most spectacular natural drives in the world. Travelling along rugged coastline, we hit the Haast Pass where ancient rainforests, icy blue glaciers and booming waterfalls collide to create a stunning kaleidoscope of natural scenery. It’s here we break to enjoy a stunning short walk to Blue Pools … nestled among mature beech and podocarp forest, these pools of deep clear water flowing into the Makarora River offer a moment of tranquility.

Continuing through Haast, we follow the shores of Lake Wanaka and Hawea, through the Kawarau Gorge and onto Queenstown – New Zealand’s own adventure capital.

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Bella Vista Queenstown

We have purposely left today as a day of leisure for you to explore Queenstown your own way…. enjoying activities that suit you. We’ll regroup once again later in the day for dinner.

There are many great walks, maybe cycle around the wineries – endless choices. Jet Boating, Lord of the Rings tour, Bungy Jumping, Skyline Gondola.

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Bella Vista Queenstown

After breakfast we head off to nearby Glenorchy, where there are many different walking options (including the chance to explore a section of the Routeburn Track, one of NZ’s ‘Great Walks’.)

If you’re looking for a horse riding experience, then perhaps you’ll choose to book a ride through High Country Horses, the only company taking you to locations filmed in The Lord of The Rings Trilogy…. learn the history while surrounded by Mt Aspiring National Park, one of three world heritage parks in New Zealand. Fantastic ride for novice riders through to experienced and it can be done in the time frame we have in Glenorchy.

Your Adventurous Women Tour Manager will assist with booking the Horse Trail Ride and provide details on the walking options. We will be spending a total of approximately 4 hours in Glenorchy, before being transferred back to Queenstown where we have more free time to explore.

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Bella Vista Queenstown

After breakfast, we hit the road! Driving around the shores of Lake Wakatipu through Kingston and the lush fertile farmlands of Southland and onto Te Anau – before starting “The Milford Highway”. We travel through to “The Divide” where break our journey embark on a 3 hour return hike to Key Summit, along the Routeburn Track, one of NZ’s “Great Walks”. Breathtaking, in all senses of the word, many say Key Summit is arguably the best day walk in Fiordland.

On completion of our hike, we’ll travel through to Milford Sound, where we’ll board our vessel to enjoy a leisurely Nature Cruise on the sound to the Tasman Sea. Time to kick back, relax and take in the magnificent scenery. We then drive back to Te Anau for the evening.

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Explorer Motel, Te Anau

After an early breakfast, If you would like to experience another of NZ’s Great Walks, why not take the Kepler Water Taxi to Bord Bay or Dock Bay and walk back to Te Anau along the Kepler Track. If the water taxi is not available, then catch a shuttle bus to the beginning of the track and hike north or south along the Kepler.

Our Driver/Guide or Your Adventurous Women Tour Manager will be able to assist with your walk choices to ensure they fit in with the allocated time available before we head off to Mt Cook.

Mid-morning we’ll begin our travel through Lindis Pass to Mt Cook National Park. If time permits and weather co-operates there is the option to do a scenic flight by helicopter or fixed wing on arrival at Mt Cook ( not included in cost) .

Hiking opportunities abound in this region, plenty of short hikes surrounding the village …however, if you’re up for it and weather permits, our Adventurous Women Tour Manager will accompany you on a 3 hour hike along the spectacular Hooker Valley Track - A beautiful walk to be enjoyed at the end of the day, finishing after sunset, just on twilight.

Meals: Breakfast

Accommodation: Hermitage Hotel

This morning should you wish, take a visit New Zealand’s Tasman Glacier terminal lake for a fascinating glacial encounter. Cruise the rapidly growing terminal lake taking in spectacular mountain views and scenery. Icebergs of every shape and size periodically tear away from the glacier allowing you to touch and taste the 300-500 year old glacial crystals.

This is a very unique opportunity and needs to be pre booked as it is so popular - we will assist with your booking. There is a morning departure which fits in with our schedule.

Kimberley Gibb River Road Adventure

. definitely an adventure travelling the Gibb River Road and exploring the magic hidden places. Not a trip for princesses - as lots of dust, dirt, sweating, long haul drives, etc. (do not pack white clothes!!) . However, these would not deter any traveller wanting this unique Australian outback experience. .Total trust in our skilled and knowledge driver, charming and professional hosts and the well organised itinerary made this trip easy for me. . Liked the distinctive orange roomy tents, stretchers and mattresses, comfortable camping chairs, hiring a suitable grade sleeping bag, the night campfires, seat rotation, plentiful, fresh and varied meals and snacks camping ch
