Today we’ll enjoy two fantastic walks at Mt Glorious in the D'Aguilar Range. The Westside Track, approx 6.5kms return Grade 3, easy to moderate followed by Greene's Falls Track, 5kms return Grade 2, easy.
We start our day from the historic Maiala picnic grounds which in the 1860s, was a flourishing sawmill site before being closed and becoming the first area on the D'Aguilar Range to be gazetted a national park. Some of the machinery and remnant hoop-pine plantation remain.
Our first walk of the day is the Westside Track on the western side of the D’Aguilar Range, with glimpses through to the western valleys and Wivenhoe Dam. The track has been affected by recent rain, so there’s a couple of areas to negotiate which will add both a little more difficulty as well as interest to the hike.
We will return the way we came to our starting point at the picnic grounds to enjoy morning tea (supplied) before we head to Greene's Falls passing through more rainforest along the boardwalk track admiring giant fig trees as colourful flowers and fungi decorate the forest floor. Pademelons and logrunners may be seen creeping out from the shady undergrowth as well as range of wonderful birdlife.
Near the creeks, you might be lucky to spot the endangered Mount Glorious spiny crayfish found in isolated areas of high altitude.

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating Christmas in July in the Bunya Mountains. We laughed endlessly, ate a lot, drank a little, sang a bit, and also managed to squeeze in some beautiful hikes. Kat and Caron were superb hosts who went above and beyond to ensure we all had a great time.
A fabulous weekend away in the forest down near Dwellingup. I enjoyed the massage and Xmas in July night. It was also good to be able to go and check out the sights of Dwellingup.
Wonderful, fun weekend. I love massages and craft. I love food. I love fun and Christmas. The accommodation was fantastic. How AW find these wonderful places amazes me. It was just the perfect setting. All of the ladies were lovely and friendly and seemed to have a really good time.
