Two Himalayan Adventures, Two Distinct Experiences

The Himalayas are a truly special part of the world. The scale of the mountains is humbling, the spirituality woven into everyday life is captivating and the warmth of the people leaves a lasting impression.

We offer two incredible Himalayan journeys: a trek in Nepal and an active adventure in Bhutan. Each trip can be experienced on its own, but we've intentionally scheduled them back-to-back for those wanting a longer, deeper exploration of this remarkable region.

So, what sets them apart?

Nepal is the more physically demanding adventure, with challenging trekking and long days on the trail. Bhutan, while still active, moves at a gentler pace with more comfort along the way. Both journeys are immersive, rewarding and designed for women who want to genuinely experience a place, not simply pass through it.

For those seeking a true trekking challenge, the Pikey Peak Trek is the more demanding of our two Himalayan adventures. And that's precisely where its magic lies!

A few days exploring the energy and culture of Kathmandu sets the scene before we head deep into the mountains: a week of long days, steady climbs and the rewarding rhythm of life on the trail. This is far from a luxury experience. Accommodation is simple, sleeping in traditional mountain teahouses with basic facilities, but the experience is rich in every other way.Women trekking in Nepal

You'll walk through remote villages where time moves differently, visit Buddhist monasteries deep in the hills and experience a slower, more purposeful way of life.

And of course, there are the views! Throughout the hike, you'll be treated to stunning mountain panoramas. The summit of Pikey Peak is widely considered one of the finest viewpoints in Nepal, offering spectacular views of Everest and many other towering Himalayan peaks. AW Tour Leader Jazzy sums up her experience on the Pikey Peak Trek: "I’m always in awe of Nepal’s towering Himalayas and the majestic landscapes, which absolutely takes your breath away. This time I left most moved by the Nepalese people, their culture, warmth, kindness and genuine generosity truly made the journey extraordinary.”Tigers Nest monastery Bhutan

Bhutan: Active Adventure

Our Bhutan Active Adventure explores the Himalayas from a different perspective.

While the Nepal trip is defined by its multi-day trek, Bhutan offers a gentler pace, with scenic day hikes woven through a cultural journey. There are still mountains, monasteries and beautiful walking trails, but with a little more comfort along the way: staying in hotels most nights and spending just one night in a well-equipped campground.Hiking in Bhutan

Bhutan is one of travel’s hidden gems. With carefully controlled visitor numbers and a government-imposed sustainable tourism fee, the country has retained a remarkable sense of authenticity. It is also famous for its ‘Gross National Happiness’, a guiding philosophy that prioritises the wellbeing of its people alongside economic progress.

Those who are lucky enough to visit are captivated by this special destination- the prayer flags that flutter across mountain passes, monasteries clinging to cliffsides and traditions that remain deeply woven into everyday life. Monk in Bhutan

AW Operations Leader, Anne, remarks, "This is a truly rewarding journey. We’ve worked closely with our local partner in Bhutan, whom we’ve known for many years, to create an itinerary that really delves beneath the surface. Experience rather than sightseeing is at the heart of this trip."

Like Nepal, you'll share the journey with a small group of adventurous women, supported by local guides and an AW tour leader throughout.Ladies tour group in Nepal

So Which Himalayan Journey Is Right For You?

Both adventures offer incredible insight into Himalayan culture, mountain traditions and life far removed from the rush of everyday life. Both are active, immersive and designed for women seeking meaningful adventure and genuine connection.

The difference lies in the experience itself. Nepal is raw, physically challenging and deeply rewarding. Bhutan moves at a gentler pace, combining hiking with rich cultural immersion.

Do one or do both - either way, the Himalayas will stay with you!
