Overview

Explore Botswana & Zimbabwe with AW

This is Botswana and Zimbabwe at their most raw and extraordinary. Over 12 unforgettable days, we journey through some of the region's most iconic landscapes from the lush waterways of the Okavango Delta and the vast salt pans of the Kalahari, to the wildlife-rich corridors of Chobe and the magnificent Victoria Falls.

Days are spent on game drives through Moremi National Park, gliding through the Delta by boat and cruising the Chobe River in search of elephants, lions and more. Nights range from comfortable tented camps under open skies to sleeping in swags on the surreal lunar expanse of Ntwetwe Pan.

This trip is designed for women who want to experience this remarkable corner of the world deeply- not just see it. A small group, local guides and a carefully crafted itinerary mean every day feels both adventurous and rewarding.

Our campsite for 3 nights is private and exclusively for the use of our group, providing a feeling of complete Africa immersion. Our comfortable, mobile safari camp will be set up before we arrive.

Solo Travellers

If you’re travelling solo not to worry, you’re in good company! Many of our travellers join solo and our trips are designed to feel welcoming and supportive from the moment you arrive. It’s a great way to meet like-minded women, and friendships often form quickly along the way.

For the accommodation, we use a rotating room buddy system- great for group bonding and also for alleviating any potential annoyances that may occur as a result of sharing with the same person throughout a tour.

Arrival & Departure Details

The tour begins on 23 July in Maun, Botswana. Please arrive at Maun International Airport (MUB) by 1:45pm to meet the scheduled 2:30pm pickup. If you arrive earlier, you’ll need to arrange your own airport transfer.

On 2 Aug, there is a group airport drop-off planned for midday to Victoria Falls International Airport (VFR).  We suggest booking an afternoon or evening departure flight.

Who will be leading the trip?

All AW trips are accompanied by one of our experienced Tour Leaders. Their role is to take the hassle out of your travels and help you get the most out of your experience, while embracing the Adventurous Women way.

On this trip, you’ll also be joined by experienced, professional local tour manager for the duration of the tour and, at times, safari guides.  They are not only extremely knowledgeable about nature and wildlife but also about the history and culture of Botswana and Zimbabwe.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements and food allergies on every tour.

As we will be travelling to remote areas so ingredients for meals are purchased and portioned in advance. We're committed to meeting dietary needs wherever possible, but it's important that any requirements are communicated accurately at the time of booking.

If you request a specific diet (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free) but then choose not to follow it during the trip, it can lead to unnecessary waste and may also mean that other guests have less food available to them. We appreciate your help in planning responsibly so we can cater fairly and effectively for everyone.

Accommodation

This tour includes several unique accommodation experiences that are a highlight of travelling through Botswana and Zimbabwe. The advertised price is based on twin-share accommodation (sharing with another group member). A single supplement is available for guests who prefer private accommodation.

  • 7 nights in comfortable hotels

  • 3 nights comfort camping in Moremi National Park:   roomy walk-in style, insect and mozzie proof tents with each tent having an attached private hot shower and toilet. Camp bed with thick foam mattress, warm doonas and covers, pillows, pillow slips, tent lighting and comfy safari chairs and wash basin add to your comfort.

  • 1 night camping with swags in Ntwetwe Pan

How will we be travelling?

Travelling through the rural regions of Botswana and Zimbabwe is an adventure in itself!

For all journeys and sightseeing excursions, we’ll travel in private vehicles (with the exception of boat trips, which may include other guests). Transportation will be a mix of overland trucks, Coaster-style buses, and 4x4 safari vehicles.

Road conditions vary considerably, so expect some dusty, bumpy stretches and occasional slow-going sections. It’s all part of the experience - known locally as the ‘African Road Massage’!

Is travel insurance required?

Travel insurance is mandatory for AW's international trips. If you haven't done so already, we recommend taking out a policy early. Most good travel insurance policies offer an upgrade option to cover trip cancellation and interruption, which can come in handy.

If you are looking for a recommendation, we suggest Go Insurance. Through an affiliation with this insurer, AW receives a financial benefit. As a way of passing value back to our guests, if you purchase a policy for an AW trip through Go Insurance using this link, you will receive a 10% discount on the premium.
