Overview

Explore Ireland Dingle Way Trek

From windswept headlands to tiny Irish-speaking villages, AW's Dingle Way Trek is a journey into one of Ireland's most remote and soulful corners.

Over 10 days, we trace the wild western edge of the Dingle Peninsula,  challenging ourselves over approximately 160km of coastal paths, mountain ridges and ancient laneways that wind through some of Ireland's most breathtaking and storied landscapes. Shaped by the relentless Atlantic and largely untouched by modern development, this is a place that feels genuinely apart: rugged, rooted in tradition and full of character.

Along the way, you'll walk clifftops above crashing surf, pass through timeless villages, discover the remnants of ancient castles and early Christian sites, and climb paths with views that go on forever. Evenings bring their own reward:  the warmth of a local pub, a comfortable bed and a well-earned pint.

You'll be in excellent hands throughout - guided by both a knowledgeable local Irish trekking manager who knows this peninsula intimately, and your AW Tour Leader, ensuring every day on the trail is well-supported, safe and memorable.

Fitness/Walk Grade

This is a challenging trek, with mostly Grade 4 hikes, covering up to 24 km per day on successive days of trekking. The route covers a mix of terrain, from fields and farms to boggy peat and sand. While these are avoided wherever possible, there is still a fair amount of walking on sealed roads which can be tiring on the feet and legs. It is not a trip to ‘get fit on’. It is essential that you commit to training  in advance and build up your endurance as well as to break in your gear.

Arrival & Departure Details

The trip begins and ends in Tralee, Ireland. The nearest airport is Cork Airport.

Alternatively, regular bus and train services connect Dublin to Tralee, with a journey time of approximately 4–5 hours.

Solo Travellers

If you’re travelling solo not to worry, you’re in good company! Many of our travellers join solo and our trips are designed to feel welcoming and supportive from the moment you arrive. It’s a great way to meet like-minded women, and friendships often form quickly along the way.

When on the tour , we have you sharing with different women from the group at different times - great for group bonding and also for alleviating any potential annoyances that may occur as a result of travelling with the same person throughout a tour. Or, if you’d prefer your own room on the trip, this is available for an additional supplement (subject to availability).  You can select this option at the time of booking.

Who will be leading the trip?

All AW trips are accompanied by one of our experienced Tour Leaders. Their role is to take the hassle out of your travels and help you get the most out of your experience, while embracing the Adventurous Women way.

You’ll also be supported by an Irish Tour Manager, who will share insight into the local culture and history along the way.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements and food allergies on every tour.  There may be times when options are limited but we’ll be sure to inform you in advance.

Is travel insurance required?

Travel insurance is mandatory for AW's international trips. If you haven't done so already, we recommend taking out a policy early. Most good travel insurance policies offer an upgrade option to cover trip cancellation and interruption, which can come in handy.

If you are looking for a recommendation, we suggest Go Insurance. Through an affiliation with this insurer, AW receives a financial benefit. As a way of passing value back to our guests, if you purchase a policy for an AW trip through Go Insurance using this link, you will receive a 10% discount on the premium.
