Due to the fantastic feedback received last time, we are going back to Girraween!
Join Kat and Caron on a fully escorted Girls Getaway bus trip to Stanthorpe and Girraween National Park. Enjoy daily bush walks through amazing landscapes, visit local produce shops and wineries, and unwind in the unique setting of your accommodation which is sure to delight your senses as well as calm your spirit.
Please note: To attend this event you must be COVID double vaccinated. Proof of vaccination MUST be supplied BEFORE the event by emailing a screen shot or appropriate document to office@adventurouswomen.com.au
Our AW Girraween 2022 adventure departs early Friday morning from Brisbane, where you can leave your car in a secure location and enjoy a private bus tour firstly to the Stanthorpe Cheese Factory followed by lunch at Jamworks (at your own expense!). Your leaders will also use this opportunity to select some local produce for the weekend. A stop at a Chocolate shop is scheduled before heading to our accommodation for the weekend at
Girraween Environmental Lodge.
Take the afternoon to unpack and explore the natural bushlands surrounding your chalet - through woodlands and forests, across creeks, and pass by extraordinary rock formations. Keep an eye out for wildlife that call this area home - kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats, dunnarts, gliders, turtles, crayfish, birds, snakes, goannas etc.
We will meet in the late afternoon by the outdoor spa for a swim, a glass of bubbles and nibbles, followed by a shared dinner prepared by your leaders.
Head out after dinner for some star-gazing if the weather allows.
Meals: Snack, Dinner
An early start today with a continental breakfast, before we head to Girraween NP.
We provide lunch for you to pack, along with fruit and snacks. Today's walk is a 11.5km return walk to the Eye of the Needle - two balancing rocks on Girraween's highest peak - Mt Norman. Allow 4-5 hours for this walk that travels through eucalypt forests, past massive granite outcrops and alongside colourful rock slabs. A point of interest along the way is a granite cairn which marks the original trigonometrical survey station erected on the mountain.
Girraween National Park is situated on the northern extremity of the New England Tableland. Its remarkable scenery is one of the best examples of a granite landscape in Australia and results from many millions of years of geological activity and weathering.
This trail offers a side trip to one of the park’s signature peaks - Castle Rock. If the weather allows, tackle the steep climb over exposed granite rocks to be rewarded by jaw-dropping 360-degree views across the park.
The afternoon is at leisure, before we head on the bus to one of the local wineries for dinner.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Dinner
Enjoy a leisurely start to this morning with a continental breakfast in your cabin, before packing our bags and heading back to enjoy some of the Northern walking tracks of Girraween National Park.
Today's walk is to The Junction and Granite Arch, 6km or around 2 hours of walking time. Marvel at Girraween's natural stone archway created by massive balancing boulders before exploring along the banks of Bald Rock Creek to The Junction. Its cool, dark waters are fringed by flowering shrubs that attract honeyeaters and parrots. This track is a must for wildflower lovers.
We then head for a well earned lunch and wine tasting at one of the many wineries nearby before heading to our last stop for a coffee and some nougat. Enjoy a sleepy afternoon road trip while a leader drives you back to Brisbane. Estimated arrival time is 5:30pm.

Fabulous trip with a difference. Kayaking the Ningaloo reef & snorkelling the amazing reef each day was just amazing. Camping in the NP on our own with scenic campsites right on the beach was pretty special.
Gem of a trail in the Perth Hills. Great weekender.
Another amazing trip by Adventurous Women
If you are looking for a unique and challenging holiday this one would be for you
Kayaking, snorkeling everyday, watching the most amazing sunsets from your beach tent site what more could you want?
Sue our guide was fabulous making sure we all got the most out of this experience.
The food was fantastic and the company of like minded women was unsurpassed.
This trip is definitely one you should put on your bucket list
A great adventure with a fantastic group of women. Loved every bit of it.
I had a great time, lots of laughs and throughly enjoyed the kayaking and snorkelling. A lovely group of ladies to share this experience with. Yardie Creek was a nice surprise after the beach and water.
I really appreciated the time and effort from Sue O and Yvonne to get me on the walk when I felt I might not be up to it as still fatigued from after effects of COVID and feeling I might have to cancel. Sue saw a way of tailoring the walk so I could take part for some of day 1. Day 2 I was fine so it was so good to be part of it and not miss out. Much appreciated. Accommodation was comfy and lovely meal at the Mundaring Hotel
