"An Incredible Bali Experience I had such an amazing trip! Everything was beautifully organised and full of unforgettable moments"
From mountain trails and hidden waterfalls, this is a 10-day adventure through Bali’s quieter corners, combining active days, cultural experiences and plenty of time to slow down and soak it all in.
Discover a different side of Bali on this 10-day adventure, travelling from the quiet east coast through mountain villages and jungle trails to the spectacular waters of Nusa Penida.
Along the way, we’ll hike through rice fields and rural villages, swim beneath waterfalls, cook with local women and climb Mt Abang for sweeping views across Bali’s volcanic landscape.
There’s a lovely rhythm to the trip, with active days balanced by time to relax, explore and enjoy our surroundings. We’ll slow things down in Ubud, stay in a peaceful eco-lodge in the mountains and finish among the islands and reefs of Nusa Penida, where we’ll snorkel alongside colourful marine life.
With a small group of adventurous women, local guides and plenty of opportunities to connect with the people and places we encounter. This is Bali beyond the busy resorts: active, immersive and full of memorable experiences.
This is an active trip, with a mix of hiking, walking and water-based adventures. Expect to be active most days, balanced with plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the scenery. Most walks are moderate and manageable for women who lead an active lifestyle, although there are two more challenging hikes. Day three features several short but steep inclines and day four is a challenging hike up Mt Abang, with a steady climb and around 800m of elevation gain.
After arriving at Denpasar Airport, leave the bustle of the south behind and make the two-hour drive east to Candi Dasa. This laid-back coastal town sits between the sea and the mountains, with the islands of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan offshore and Mt Agung towering behind us.
We meet at 5.30pm for a group briefing before settling in for our first dinner together.
Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel, Candi Dasa
We begin with a walk through Manggis Village, just inland from Candi Dasa. A local farmer introduces us to village life, sharing stories of Balinese customs, traditions and the Hindu rituals that shape the rhythm of daily life.
After our walk, members of the Manggis Women's Association welcome us into their communal kitchen. We'll forage for ingredients in the surrounding food forest before cooking and enjoying a meal together.
The evening is free to explore Candi Dasa on your own.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel, Candi Dasa
Today we hit the trails, hiking from Manggis Village through quiet hamlets and lush countryside to Jagastru Waterfall. The trail includes some steep climbs and a creek crossing, but the effort is well worth it.
Along the way, we’ll visit a small workshop where local spirits are made from palm trees. Learn about the traditional distillation process and how this craft has been passed down through generations.
After a snack break, we’ll arrive at Jagastru Waterfall, where a beautiful swimming hole offers a refreshing reward. Take a dip and relax before continuing to our lunch spot on a quiet stretch of beach.
We’ll return to Candidasa in the late afternoon, with time to relax or explore independently.
Distances: The hike is around 2.5 hours total. The first 40 minutes or so is uphill but then it levels out slightly
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel, Candi Dasa
We leave Candidasa early in the morning with a packed breakfast box and head into the mountains for a hike up Mt Abang, Bali’s third-highest mountain. The 4-6 hour return hike climbs from around 1,300 metres to just under 2,100 metres, winding through forest before opening up to spectacular views across Bali’s volcanic landscape. Enjoy a snack break at the summit and take in the views before making our way back down to the vehicle.
We’ll then continue to Munduk, stopping for lunch along the way. After checking in to our peaceful resort, settle in and enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by nature.
Distances: While not long in distance, the hike up Mount Abang is steep and over uneven terrain. Expect to take 2-3 hours to the summit. There are other viewpoints along the way if you wish to shorten the hike.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel, Munduk
After breakfast, we’ll check out and head out to explore the beautiful region of Munduk. A gentle two-hour hike takes us through lush jungle and past local farms, with a stop along the way to enjoy coffee amid the rice fields.
We’ll then enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing to Lake Tamblingan. Here, we’ll board a traditional canoe for a peaceful 30-minute paddle across the lake, with time for a refreshing swim in the cool water if you wish. A simple changing room is available.
We’ll wrap up around 3pm and drive to Ubud, our base for the next two nights.
Distance: The full excursion takes around 5 hours, including breaks, with approximately 2- 2.5 hours of walking. Driving time is 2-3 hours depending on traffic.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel, Ubud
Today is free to explore Ubud on your own. There are plenty of ways to spend the day, from spa treatments and excellent food to craft shops, boutiques and hands-on activities like jewelry making. Our local guide can help with recommendations for anyone keen to explore further.
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Hotel, Ubud
Today we swap the rice fields and jungles for the ocean as we make our way to Nusa Penida. After a scenic drive and lunch, we board the fast boat across to the island.
Our accommodation sits high above the ocean, with the afternoon free to settle in, enjoy the views and watch the sun go down.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel, Nusa Penida
It's time to get into the water and discover Nusa Penida's spectacular marine life. Depending on the conditions, our snorkelling may include Manta Bay, Crystal Bay and Toyapakeh, as well as the vibrant reefs around neighbouring Nusa Lembongan.
Manta rays, turtles and colourful tropical fish are all part of the underwater experience. After lunch, return to the hotel to relax or explore more of the island on your own
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Hotel, Nusa Penida
Our final full day begins with a walk along the dramatic limestone cliffs of western Nusa Penida, with turquoise water and secluded coves stretching below us.
We return to the hotel before catching the fast boat back to Sanur and transferring to Jimbaran. After checking in, we’ll head out for our final dinner together, raising a glass to an unforgettable adventure in Bali.

If you’re travelling solo not to worry, you’re in good company! Many of our travellers join solo and our trips are designed to feel welcoming and supportive from the moment you arrive. It’s a great way to meet like-minded women, and friendships often form quickly along the way.
When on the tour , we have you sharing with different women from the group at different times - great for group bonding and also for alleviating any potential annoyances that may occur as a result of travelling with the same person throughout a tour. Or, if you’d prefer your own room on the trip, this is available for an additional supplement. You can select this option at the time of booking.
The tour begins in Candi Dasa, with a Day 1 transfer included from Denpasar or Sanur. For those flying in from Australia, there are direct flights to Bali (Denpasar) from several Australian cities, making Bali an easy destination to reach.

We do our best to accommodate dietary requirements and food allergies wherever possible. Please ensure any dietary requirements are advised in advance so we can confirm what can be accommodated and let you know of any limitations before you travel.
We’ll be staying in a mix of hotels and lodges. These are comfortable mid-range hotels with elements of local style and design. All rooms have private, ensuite bathrooms.
We’ll be travelling by private, air-conditioned vehicles for most of the tour. For the journeys to and from Nusa Penida, we’ll travel by speedboat shared with other passengers.
At the time of publishing this tour, Australians require a tourist visa to enter Bali, along with a mandatory Bali Tourism Levy. Your passport must have at least six months’ validity, and you’ll also need to complete the All Indonesia arrival declaration within 72 hours of arrival.
