Join Caron for a beautiful morning stroll through the Lytton Wader Roost, along the Mangrove Boardwalk, including the Wynnum foreshore to the Jetty.
We will begin our morning of adventure heading straight to the Wader Roost to have a look at the birdlife from the purpose build hut. The Roost is an important place for migratory shorebirds - each spring they fly to Moreton Bay from countries such as Siberia, China, Japan, Mongolia and Alaska. The birds come here to feed on the food-rich mud flats and roost in the salt marshes and mangroves along the shore.
From here we will head out along the mangrove boardwalk and the foreshore past Wynnum Creek to the historical Jetty.
Retracing our steps, we will be stopping at a local coffee shop to grab a cuppa (at own expense), then finding a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the views. The bay is an important refuge for the vulnerable dugong and green and loggerhead turtles that are threatened species worldwide.
If we are super lucky, we will be able to watch the pelicans and perhaps even spy a pod of dolphins from the shore if the weather conditions are right.
