Pack your spirit of adventure and discover the true heart of Fiji.

You may know Fiji for its corals and coast, but venture away from the tourism centres and you’ll find yourself in a landscape of dramatic peaks, pristine forests, sparkling rivers, remote villages and unique history.

This itinerary takes you on a full circuit of Fiji’s biggest island and on some detours right into the interior. During your journey, you’ll escape the tourist Fiji and get a unique insight into the vibrant traditional culture that underpins daily life. And, those stunning beaches…. we’ll give you a taster during your time with us, but they’ll be waiting for you at the end after our adventure in the hills, if you choose to head out to the nearby Yasawa Islands for more!!

In the afternoon we visit Aviva Farm and Sabeto mud pools. Take a short tour of Aviva Farm, a new agro-tourism destination, and find out about various local crops and plant species, including coffee, cocoa and yaqona (kava). Then take a short horse-ride (or travel by car) to the restorative mud pools in Sabeto for a warm mud bath.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 3 – Tuesday 7th June - To the Coral Coast

This morning we head off through Nadi town and our first stop is at the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple. This Hindu temple is perhaps the most recognised in of all the temples in Fiji, and takes about 45mins to wander around.

We then head South along the Queen’s Road to Sigatoka, stopping at Natadola Beach for a swim and a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon, we visit Fiji’s only National Park, the Sigatoka Sand dunes. Here we have a choice of taking either a 3km or a 6km walk, guided by a Park Ranger.

We then travel onto our Coral Coast hotel, where we can freshen up, relax and enjoy a bbq dinner.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 4 - Wednesday 8th June - Coral Coast

This morning, a short drive inland takes us to the Tavuni Hill Fort, an old fortified village site from more troubled times, with wonderful views down to the Sigatoka river. We then visit Kula Eco Park to get a taster of Fiji’s flora and fauna as we walk along an elevated walkway through dry tropical forest.

In the afternoon, we head off to Suva, stopping at the Eco Café along the way for some Fijian-Italian cuisine!

We’ll check into our Suva hotel and if time permits, catch sunset over a cocktail at the Grand Pacific Hotel

Meals: Excluded

Day 5 - Thursday 9th June - Suva

We’ll take a walking tour around the city centre in the morning, finishing off with a guided tour of the Fiji Museum for an insight into Fiji’s history and culture.

Day 6 - Friday 10th June - Leleuvia

The morning is yours to explore this little slice of paradise. Leleuvia has a wide variety of non-motorised water sports (Stand Up Paddleboards, Outrigger Canoes, Kayaks) to keep you busy! In the afternoon spend your relaxing, enjoying the watersports & surrounds, or take an ‘optional’ snorkelling trip (by boat).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 - Saturday 11th June - To Nabalesere

An early start sees us head back to Viti Levu by boat and onto Takalana Bay Retreat, where we’ll head out by boat for 45mins to Moon Reef and its resident pod of spinner dolphins. We’ll have lunch on our return to shore on the deck at the lodge.

After lunch we’ll travel on to Nabalesere village, where we will present a sevusevu and follow a rough track to visit their spectacular waterfall, where we’ll take a refreshing swim or sit quietly and take in the surroundings at this beautiful spot. We then spend a night in the village community. This won’t be the most comfortable night you’ll have ever spent, but it will give you a real insight into life in a rural Fijian village.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Navala Fiji

Day 8 - Sunday 12th June To Nadarivatu

After breakfast, we’ll join the community for their church service, which will be followed up with an early lunch in the village. We then say goodbye to our friends at the village and head back to the main road.

We continue our anti-clockwise journey around Viti Levu and head up to Stonebowl Lodge in Nadarivatu. The Lodge is a rustic colonial era building, with small shared dorms, and plenty of character. We’re up at about 800m here and in the evening it can get quite cool. A refreshing change from the coast.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 - Monday 13th June - To Nubutautau

In the morning we can take a 5km walk, to give us great views to the sugar cane fields far below and inland into the heart of Viti Levu. Or for those wanting a bit more exertion, there’s a 1 ½ hour climb to the top of Mt Lomalagi.

After lunch, we’ll leave Stonebowl Lodge behind and go on a journey right through the centre of Viti Levu. The road is pretty rough, and the 4WDs get a bit of a work out, but the views are fantastic. We’ll head to Nubutautau village where we’ll sevusevu and settle in for the evening.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10 - Tuesday 14th June - Nubutautau and Bulou’s Lodge

We’ll take a tour of the village and hear the story of the unfortunate missionary Rev Baker, who was killed there and later eaten nearby. For those wanting more exertion a loop walk down to the river is good.

After lunch in the village, we’ll continue on our 4WD trek along the ridgeline separating two of Fiji’s major rivers (the Sigatoka River and the Ba River), to Bulou’s Lodge near Navala village, where will spend the night. Bulou’s is a rustic lodge run by the charming Tui and his mother.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 11 Wednesday 15th June – Navala village

We’ll breakfast with Tui at Bulou’s Lodge, and then he’ll take us down to the picturesque Navala village with its rows of traditionally built bures.

After soaking up the atmosphere in the village, we’ll head on down to Ba town and around to Vuda Marina for a late lunch, before dropping you off at your hotel and saying our sad goodbyes. The accommodation is well located for those extending onto the Yasawa Islands or flying home the next day.

Princess crossed out This tour by it's very nature is not designed for the 5 Star Traveller. It is for the girl who has an 'adventurous spirit' and is looking for a unique and rewarding experience (Once in a Lifetime)! You should be able to adopt a "Go With The Flow" attitude, after-all we are in a foreign country and things don't always go to plan...this will help you chill out and therefore get the best out of your holiday. You will also need to be mobile without assistance - some of the sights require you to be on your feet, navigating steps and uneven surfaces at times. We also have a couple of walks as part of this tour - these walks can be achieved by anyone with a general level of fitness, but again mobility is the key, as with all of our tours.
