Bibbulmun Track 4 Day Getaway - Donnelly River Region
Kangaroos & Emu's at Donnelly River

Please note map locations and route are approximate only

Friday 16th June - Drive from Perth to Donnelly River Village.

We leave Perth at 12.00noon and travel south to Donnelly River Village, where we check into our unique accommodation at the ‘Old Boarding House' and enjoy our first group dinner together. We aim to arrive at our accommodation around 4.30pm and will make a brief stop at Settlers Roadhouse en-route, where you can pick up a coffee/snack and use the toilet facilities.

Saturday 17th June - Karri Gully Spur Road to Donnelly River Village (16km)

Today we begin our walking journey from the Karri Gully Picnic Spot and into the deep forested areas of the Bibbulmun. You’ll be mesmerized by the beauty of this area, it’s density, it’s soft underfoot, fungi are plentiful and the transition of jarrah and marri trees to the giant karri trees become evident. We finish off our day at Donnelly River Village, which is an experience in itself, as we get up close and personal with the semi-tame Kangaroos and Emu’s who inhabit the area. Today’s walk, although lengthy, is mainly on gentle undulating terrain, which makes it comfortable and very achievable in the time frame given.

Sunday 18th June - Donnelly River Village to Twin Bridges (13.2km)

This morning, we leave Donnelly River walking south through jarrah forest, returning to karri forest again around the 5k mark, before finishing off in the afternoon at Twin Bridges. Again another stunning area, lots of different varieties of fungi, abundant flora and fauna and massive towering karri trees. Today’s walk weaves along gentle undulating terrain until lunch time, when we then encounter a few ups and downs, which makes the walk a little more challenging than yesterday’s. The beauty of today’s walk is sure to take your mind off those little challenging sections.

Monday 19th June - Twin Bridges to One Tree Bridge, then drive back to Perth (13.8km)

Another day in paradise! We leave Twin Bridges, where the Donnelly River becomes our companion for the rest of our walk, along with lovely karri forest, plenty of birdlife, little rapids and valleys to enjoy. We pass through one of the prettiest campsites on the track "Tom Road Campsite”, perched on the river, where you’ll have time to explore, before moving onto Greens Island and finishing early on in the afternoon at One Tree Bridge. No major hill climbs on this day, just enjoy the serenity of the forest, while walking along at a steady pace. When finished on the track today, we board the bus for our trip back to Perth, stopping on the way to grab a bite to eat. We envisage that we will reach the city at around 6.30pm.

This tour by it's very nature is not designed for the 5 Star Traveller. It is for the girl who has an 'adventurous spirit' and is looking for a unique and rewarding experience (Once in a Lifetime)! You should be able to adopt a "Go With The Flow" attitude, after-all we are in a foreign country and things don't always go to plan...this will help you chill out and therefore get the best out of your holiday. You will also need to be mobile without assistance - some of the sights require you to be on your feet, navigating steps and uneven surfaces at times. We also have a couple of walks as part of this tour - these walks can be achieved by anyone with a general level of fitness, but again mobility is the key, as with all of our tours.

You are in for an 'adventure' ...... and will be staying in 'the Old Boarding House', which is a comfortable warm old house, equipped with a combination of single and bunk beds, in different rooms, which you will be sharing with other ladies from the group. Earplugs will ensure that you get the rest required, if you're a light sleeper.
