Today we drive from Albany to Porongurup National Park, where our first hike of the tour commences. Don’t be fooled by the distance of this hike, it’s not for the faint hearted or those who have a fear of heights, as the trail is steep and requires some rock scrambling before ascending a ladder to the suspended walkway to get to the upper lookout at the summit. The most difficult part of the trail is the final climb to the Granite Skywalk, however access to the lower lookout is easier and you do not need to climb over rock or up ladders, if heights are not your thing!!

We’ll rise nice and early this morning to head into the Stirling Ranges for our hike up to the summit of Mt Trio. This hike is a short steep climb, with a total ascent of 400 metres and lots of steps along the way. Wildflowers, including the endemic mountain bells, are a feature of the hike, as well as sweeping views of Mount Toolbrunup and mountains to the south-west.
This-afternoon is at leisure back at our accommodation. Time to explore the nearby Porongurup Inn Shop & Tea Rooms, have a cold beverage or a game of pool at the Karri On Bar, or simply relax in your chalet.

A photographer’s dream!
This walk is a strenuous return hike over Isthmus Hill and Limestone Head to Bald Head, however it’s well worth the effort.

Our hike today is without doubt one of the best coastal walks in the Albany area …. The Baie des Deux Peuples Heritage Trail. Even though the trail is relatively short, the coastline is gorgeous and the wildflowers will be blooming, so you’ll want to slow the pace down to take it all in. The magic coves of Little Beach and Waterfall Beach are sure to delight with their white sands and turquoise water and weather permitting you may wish to enjoy a swim.

Today is our last hiking day and we’ve chosen the Luke Pen Walk Trail, located along the Kalgan River to showcase yet another different landscape to those already walked on this tour.
This walk is a local favourite that closely follows the river, providing constantly changing views of the river, along with a mixture of vineyards, green pastures and eucalypt bushland. It’s a lovely shady walk and there’s plenty of opportunity to spy wildlife that inhabits the river environment including pelicans, ducks and cormorants. In the bush skirting the river Thornbills, Splendid and Red-winged Fairy wrens can often be spotted, as well as a diverse variety of wildflowers.
