This is the ‘real deal’ girls …an authentic Aussie experience in the WA Outback. We’re taking you to a working sheep station, located in the striking red earth country of WA’s Murchison region. You’ll enjoy the peace and tranquility that comes with this way of life, while having a truly unique experience. It’s time to let your hair down, get dirty, live without make-up for a few days, sleep like a baby … and most of all, have heaps of fun!

The trip is designed as an awesome introduction to ‘real’ WA Outback Station life and even though we’d like to spend more time there, we wanted to make it affordable for you by driving (flying = $$$), keeping the days to a comfortable minimum so you need less time away from work/home and still having enough time to explore this area. Travelling to the station by road gives us all an idea of just how remote it is … all part of the experience!

Day 1

We leave Perth at 7.00am for an early start, as getting to the Outback involves a long drive! We will spend around 7 hours on the road, including a couple of stops along the way to stretch the legs and have lunch. Use the travel time as an opportunity to check out the wildflowers along the way, catch up on some rest, relax or get to know your fellow travellers. Pack your earplugs, ipods, neck pillows, eye masks, books, cards,... whatever you need to make your journey more comfortable.

We should arrive at the station by around 2.00pm, unpack and get settled in before we meet with our host who will chat to us about the riding options & times (based on beginner or experienced riders) for the following day (bike or horses). We will then spend a little time familiarising ourselves with our chosen ride. Those who choose not to ride at all, there are other options and of course plenty of time to chill out, kick back in a hammock and soak up the atmosphere of station life.

The rest of the afternoon is free to explore, and no doubt photographers will be looking for that perfect shot as the colours of the landscape begin to change. At 5.30pm we head over to the homestead for Happy Hour with the station owners. Afterwards, we head back to the Shearers Quarters where we’ll have dinner and enjoy a chin wag around the camp fire.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Day 2

Today you will get to enjoy your chosen ‘optional’ activity of either riding quads, or riding horses to explore the station trails (both of these activities are guided and will be staggered at different times throughout the day to suit the different abilities of the riders). Also during the day, we will have two Gold Prospecting Demo’s, which will fit in around the rides, so that anyone who wants to join in, gets a chance to do so.

Apart from a little bit of chillaxin’ between the activities, in the arvo we’ll head out on a guided tour of the station with the owner. It’s here you’ll learn all about day to day station life, the reasons behind why things are done the way they are done and a real insight into this working station. On our way back from the tour, we’ll call into Courin Hill for a walk around the base among the wildflowers, and then just prior to sunset, we’ll climb to the top of the hill where we’ll enjoy a ‘sundowner’, while taking in the magnificent station views. Then it’s back to base camp for dinner & campfire shenanigans.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3

Ever heard of Geocaching? Well today you get the opportunity to learn about it and test your skills if you’re interested in knowing more. If you’re into treasure hunts, the thrill of the find … then you’ll love it! Great way to see other things around the station that you may not have come across until now! There will also be opportunity to help the station workers/owners with mustering of the sheep, or other station duties (whatever they are up to while we’re there / dependent upon weather etc). If you want to spend more time on horses or quads, then you may choose this ‘option’.

We have kept the itinerary fairly loose today, so you have time to explore your particular interests further. We’ll regroup around 5.30 and head over to the homestead for Happy Hour with the owners & station workers. Afterwards it’s back to base camp (dinner & campfire).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4

This morning is free time for you to enjoy this little slice of paradise in whatever way you wish. We’ll pack up everything and head off from station for our drive back to Perth at 11.00am and with stops, we should arrive home between 6 - 7pm.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Important : Please Read our ‘No Princess Policy’ below, prior to booking.

1. You need to be able to suck it up for the 7 hours (including breaks) we spend on the road… Outback is a long way!

2. You will be sleeping, showering & eating in the old ‘very rustic’ shearers quarters and adjoining buildings.

3. You may encounter frogs in the shower or the loo (if you can’t hack it, shout out to one of the Sue’s and they’ll remove them for you).

4. Our Itinerary may change due to certain factors out of our control .. this is a real working station and we need to fit in with the owners.

5. You will get dirty.

6. There is no power in the Shearers Quarters of a night (only intermittent generator during the day as required), however there are hot showers using a ‘donkey’ (old fashioned wood fired water heater)

7. You may well be out of your comfort zone, however if you adopt a ‘Go With The Flow’ attitude, you will learn so much & have a great time!!

No Princess Policy

Princess crossed out This tour by it's very nature is not designed for the 5 Star Traveller. It is for the girl who has an 'adventurous spirit' and is looking for a unique and rewarding experience (Once in a Lifetime)! You should be able to adopt a "Go With The Flow" attitude, after-all we are in a foreign country and things don't always go to plan...this will help you chill out and therefore get the best out of your holiday. You will also need to be mobile without assistance - some of the sights require you to be on your feet, navigating steps and uneven surfaces at times. We also have a couple of walks as part of this tour - these walks can be achieved by anyone with a general level of fitness, but again mobility is the key, as with all of our tours.
