Join us for a full day hiking experience on the Numbat Trail within the Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary. 

This solid day walk also incorporates part of the Quenda and Possum trails and provides a wonderful challenge to experienced walkers, rewarding them with a wide variety of natural features from creek lines to granite outcrops and wildflower displays, to open powder bark forest. 

Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary, an Australian Wildlife Conservancy property is 1 hour north east of Perth in the Avon Valley on Clenton Road, Gidgegannup and offers a number of spectacular walking trails through Jarrah, Wandoo and Powderbark forest combined with heath and wetland habitat.

Please park in the car park adjacent to a locked gate which leads to the trails.  The locked gate can only be accessed with a code which your guide will have on the day.

We will allow 15 minutes grace time for anyone who may be running late before starting and relocking the gate so please plan your journey. 

 

Distance:  12k Approx (estimated 7 hours including lunch break & frequent rest stops)

Terrain:  Hilly / Hard Rating - Suitable for fit bush walkers, or those preparing for long distance walks/endurance training


IMPORTANT - MOBILE COVERAGE:  Please note that you may or may not have a mobile signal as you get closer to Paruna car park & we cannot guarantee that our Adventurous Women ®  Guide will have signal either if she is already at the car park waiting for you, so if for any reason you cannot make it on the day or you're running late, ring or (preferably text) well ahead of the starting time to ensure she gets the message.

 

Getting There

 

  • From Midland, head east along Toodyay Road
  • Go 11 km up the hill, past Red Hill Tip, and turn left onto O’Brien Road
  • Go about 15 km to the junction of Ewing Road (at sign to Walyunga Lookout)
  • Turn right onto Clenton Road and go 2.5 km, then turn left onto Avon Road
  • Go about 1 km to the end of Avon Road
  • Follow signs to parking area outside pedestrian gate
