Perhaps you’ve been on plenty of day hikes, maybe some camping trips and now you want to move onto something a little more challenging …. An overnight hike, carrying all your own gear! Or could it be that you’re completely new to hiking and maybe wondering what to pack for an overnight hiking trip?
A common mistake for first-timers is to over pack and nothing ruins a hike more than having too much weight on your back! We think it’s important to at least get a few of the basics right when heading out on your first overnight hiking experience so you actually enjoy it …..and will want to do more!
It’s also equally as important to realise that you will learn something new every time you head out on the trail, which is all part of the challenge and enjoyment of living out of a backpack!
With so many products on the market, so many options and opinions, the whole idea of getting the right gear together for the first time can be extremely daunting, so we’ve designed a ‘women only’ gear workshop to help you plan and prepare for an overnight hike.
Our knowledgeable and experienced bush walking & backpacking guide, Sue O’Connor will share valuable information to help you get the best out of your overnight hiking trip.
The workshop will include:
How to choose a backpack suitable for you
How to fit and adjust a backpack to provide you with maximum comfort
How to pack a backpack for an overnight hiking trip
Essential items you should carry in your backpack
Where to hire, buy or source a backpack for your first overnight experience
