Itinerary

Our guides will collect all guests from outside the National Gallery of Victoria, St Kilda Road at 8am on the day of departure. The Grampians is a three hour drive from Melbourne so we have a stop in Beaufort for morning tea before arriving around lunchtime into our place of stay in Halls Gap. After lunch it is time to strap on the boots and depart for an afternoon walk that begins at the Brambuk Visitor Centre, crosses Fyan’s Creek and an easy walk takes us to the base of the Mt William Range, where it begins a steady climb. Finally we top out at Boronia Peak with panoramic views over the Wonderland Range and surrounding peaks. Retracing our footsteps we will return to the coach and our place of stay by late afternoon.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: D’Altons Retreat

After a hearty, continental breakfast and with our day’s lunch packed away in our day pack, we begin our walk from the heart of Halls Gap. The trail begins alongside Stony Creek and rises towards Wonderland. The imagery and the unique shaping of the rocks gives rise to features like the Elephant Hide and the Grand Canyon. We emerge out onto the rocky spine of the Pinnacle, one of today’s visual spectacles. After lunch our days’ walk continues on a more even footing out to Sundial Peak where you can rest and soak up another stunning view.

From here the days’ walking winds up at the Mount Rosea Campground. A short drive later and we have you back in our accommodation where you

can freshen yourself up and then re-group for pre-dinner nibbles followed by a two-course dinner prepared by your guides.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

A challenging morning walk to the peak of Mount Rosea. The climb is challenging but the path is well formed and shaded before topping out at the summit of Mount Rosea. It makes a superb spot for lunch and time to enjoy your reward for your morning’s efforts. The trail from here winds down to

where it finishes at Borough Huts. Back to our place of stay for some well-earned respite. This evening we’ll head off to the local hotel for dinner and our final night together. (Tonight’s dinner is at your own expense.)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

This morning’s walk takes us to the top of Mount William, the highest peak in the Grampians. It is only a short walk and of a moderate nature but the views are amazing. You’re able to look right along the entire length of the Grampians as it stretches north and south.

Our morning walk takes us back to our coach and a short drive later we are back in Halls Gap where you can buy your lunch for the last day (lunch today is at your own expense) before we begin our journey back to Melbourne. We’ll have a short break in the town before getting back into Melbourne around 4.00 to 5.00pm.

Accommodation

D’Altons is located within a few minutes walk of the main township at Halls Gap and features modern facilities and amenities, including an outdoor salt water pool (so don’t forget to bring your swimmers after a day’s walking!).

We stay in lovely two bedroom log cabins which have been designed with functionality and space in mind. The Cottages are generously spread over our bush site to utilise the magnificent views of the Grampians ranges. The Cottages are constructed of rough sawn hardwood and complement the ambience of the National Park. Each cottage is fully self-contained and comprises 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, toilet, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, dining area and spacious verandah.

You can choose a single supplement if you would prefer not to share a bedroom, this means you would have one bedroom in the two bedroom cabin and are likely to be sharing the cabin (and bathroom) with one or two other guests.

Fully Escorted Bondi to Manly Walk End to End Sydney NSW

Sun 18th October 2020 | Sue M

We all enjoyed the walk , the company and the guide who went to great lengths to make it successful.

Scenery around the harbour is spectacular and I will make sure I revisit areas that were like this and unknown to me before.

Some areas required more climbing of stairs than expected by many, so would suggest a little training beforehand on hills would be advisable.

Would recommend this trip to all as it show cases the wonderful city we have and don't see unless we get off the main roads.

Thanks AW for putting this one together.
