Climb three of Fiji's most distinctive peaks in three days. Crazy? Maybe, but let's do it anyway! And what better way to recuperate than with some down time on Leleuvia Island's beautiful beaches! And if you've still got any energy left there's plenty of kayaking, stand up paddling boarding and outrigger canoeing to be done.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Sunday June 4th - Nadi

Arrival any time during the day, check in and relax, or journey into downtown Nadi. At 6pm - Make your way down to the lobby to meet with your Adventurous Women Tour Manager and the rest of the group for evening drinks, dinner and tour briefing.

Day 2 - Monday June 5th - Batilamu (1,100m, 4.25km) ascent

Aviva Farms is a short drive from your accommodation in the beautiful Sabeto valley. The distinctive Batilmau peak, which awaits us in the afternoon, provides a stunning backdrop. Take a stroll or short horse-ride around their gardens and find out about various local crops and plant species, including coffee, cocoa and yaqona (kava). We'll also visit neighbouring Rise Beyond the Reef that supports rural women earn income from their handicraft skills. Following an early lunch at the farm we'll drive on to the Koroyanitu Heritage Park and the village of Abaca to start our ascent of Batilamu (1,110m - 2-3 hours). We'll arrive in time to watch a beautiful sunset over the Nadi Valley and out to the islands before settling down for dinner in the small hut on top of the mountain.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 Tuesday 6th June - Batilamu descent (4.25km)

After breakfast, we descend back down the mountain via a waterfall and back to Fiji's second largest city Lautoka for lunch. Our drive takes us up around the north coast to Tavua and inland passing sugar cane farms at first before ascending steeply into the hills. We'll arrive at the village of Navai, at the base of Fiji's highest mountain, and overnight in a homestay in the village with Esira, Paulini and their family. This will be an opportunity to get a glimpse of life in Fiji's interior and enjoy some delicious Fijian food. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 - Wednesday 7th June - Tomaniivi (1323m, 9km) - the top of Fiji!

There'll be plenty of breakfast to ensure you're well fueled for Fiji's highest mountain. The climb takes us through beautiful cloud forest and on a good day, when the clouds lift, we're rewarded with spectacular views across Viti Levu. We'll have a pack lunch on top of the mountain before descending and enjoying a swim and afternoon tea in the village on our return. We'll say our goodbyes and head down to the east coast to Takalana, a small locally run eco retreat.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 - Thursday 8th June - Third and final peak - Tova (646m, 8.5km)

Don't be fooled by our last peak - it may be the shortest and lowest but we start from almost sea level and this is our most strenuous climb. The track gets pretty steep towards the end as we scramble up between tree roots to the top of this volcanic plug with a 360 degree views inland and out beyond the reef. Taking it slow on the way down we return to Takalana for a late lunch, triumphant after our three peaks!
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 6 - Friday 9th June - Dolphins and on to Leleuvia

In the morning Josefa at Takalana will take us out to see their resident pod of spinner dolphins that inhabit Moon Reef. Leleuvia's boat will pick us up on the beach and the afternoon and next two days are yours to explore this little slice of paradise. Leleuvia has a wide variety of non-motorised water sports (Stand Up Paddleboards, Outrigger Canoes, Kayaks) to keep you busy if you still have some energy left!
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 - Saturday 10th June - Leleuvia

The day is yours to do as little or as much as you please. Boat trips are available to great snorkelling spots or to Levuka, Fiji's old capital, for anyone not able to handle the relaxation! Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 - Sunday 11th June To Nadarivatu

After breakfast, we'll join the community for their church service, which will be followed up with an early lunch in the village. We then say goodbye to our friends at the village and head back to the main road. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Option: If you do have to extract yourself from paradise you can catch a boat back from Leleuvia to fly back today) Day 9 - Monday 12th June - Homeward Bound After breakfast we'll say our goodbyes and make our way to Nausori Airport, close to the boat landing from Leleuvia, to catch either the direct flight to Sydney or an internal flight to Nadi and onwards.
Meals: Breakfast

NEED TO KNOW:

Transport:Transport is in 4WD vehicles, with four passengers in each, and a driver/guide with good English. These vehicles enable us to get off the beaten track and show you much more of Fiji than is otherwise possible.

Number of participants allowed on tour - 8 Maximum (First booked, first in)

Accommodation: 'Adventurous' - Ranges from Quad/Twin Share in hotel rooms, lodges and on the island and then Group Share - in Basic but welcoming, huts, dormitory style accommodation or homestays within the villages.

Fitness Requirements: As the name states this is a challenge! A good level for fitness is required. None of the peaks are particularly high (up to 1323m) or long (up to 10km, 4-6 hours) but the tracks can be uneven and the last sections of the track are steep. This tour by it's very nature is not designed for the 5 Star Traveller. It is for the girl who has an 'adventurous spirit' and is looking for a unique and rewarding experience (Once in a Lifetime)! You should be able to adopt a "Go With The Flow" attitude, after-all we are in a foreign country and things don't always go to plan...this will help you chill out and therefore get the best out of your holiday.

You will also need to be mobile without assistance - some of the sights require you to be on your feet, navigating steps and uneven surfaces at times. We also have a couple of walks as part of this tour - these walks can be achieved by anyone with a general level of fitness, but again mobility is the key, as with all of our tours.
