This is the second in our local Backyard Blitz Series and it's beautiful relaxing day.
Our path will follow the river Torrens from just near the Adelaide Oval towards Henley Beach, enjoying the beautiful river environs and rich history. We will stop along the way to allow for re-grouping, morning tea, lunch and so your AW guide can share the fascinating information about the area and landmarks.
Leonie will explain the significance of the locations to the local Kayrna people's as well as talking about Adelaide's historic landmarks such as the Adelaide Oval, Old Goal & Torrens Weir on this picturesque walk, that is often described as an "oasis within the city".
Once we leave the city centre we will walk through the gorgeous River Red Gums lining the undulating pathway alongside the river and past reed beds and bulrushes.
The river banks create natural sanctuaries that are filled with an abundance of bird life that slowly changes as we head towards the coast making for a very relaxing walk..
Bird species we may encounter include the beautiful white-winged fairy wrens, a range of duck species, lorikeets, bee-eaters, and honey eaters.

What a great way to do the Cape to Cape, everything was great, thankyou
What an adventure! Stunning scenery; an inspiring, fun group of women; and wonderful caring and empowering support to achieve a dream.
Brilliantly organised
Best experience ever 👍 Very well organised and the guides are the absolute best who go over and beyond to ensure everyone has a great experience and finishes the trek. Our guide Sue O’Connor was the absolute best. A few of us have already booked our next adventure in April ... thank you adventurous women 😀
As always, a great AW weekend. Well worth it for the nocturnal visit; amazing to see these animals one would not normally see. Thanks, Jazzy & Sue.
It certainly was highlights of the track - such a beautiful part of the south-west. There was so much of this trip to enjoy - the guides, the company, the scenic hike and the food.
One of the best weeks I have ever experienced , we were so well looked after, and great camaraderie between us all.
