Join our Adventurous Women Host Sue O'Connor on this very adventurous & rewarding weekend away!  Try your hand at multi-pitch abseiling on the third highest and one of the most spectacular peaks in Western Australia - Bluff Knoll, located in the Stirling Range National Park!

We will be staying at theStirling Range Retreat, along with our Outdoor Technical Consultants and ask that you make your own way down to the retreat on Friday. (5 hours drive). We are happy to assist with car pooling arrangements for participants and to help out with booking of shared accommodation, as most ladies who book on our activities & events are unknown to one another.  If you have a group of friends, someone you specifically wish to share with or prefer to book your own accommodation, that's perfectly fine - just let us know so we can coordinate.

Stirling Range retreat have a limited amount of cabins, chalets & motel style units - great for group sharing & they're self contained which makes it an easy option, however they also have plenty of un-powered & powered campsites.

The Program for the Weekend:

Friday Afternoon-

Arrive in your own time and check into your accommodation.
Sue O'Connor (AW Host for the Weekend) will meet with those who have already arrived at 6pm in the Outdoor Communal Kitchen Area for intro's and to enjoy a "Sundowner" together.
Any arrivals after 6pm either join with the group over at the Outdoor Communal Kitchen Area or check into your accommodation & relax.

Saturday Morning -

Briefing will be held by our Outdoor Technical Consultants on how the weekend will run.
We then follow in convoy to Castle Rock, where we undergo abseil training in preparation for the big one tomorrow.  We need to learn how to use brake prussiks as there is no bottom braking or top rope belays used in multi-pitch environments.
At the conclusion of the day, we head back to Stirling Range Retreat for a briefing on tomorrow's activity, relax and enjoy social time together

Sunday Morning -

A very early morning start today as we head off to Bluff Knoll (around 5.00am)
Conduct all checks, safety briefing and proceed to walk up the top of Bluff (2 hours).
We have 5 hours of abseiling today, then 2 hours to get back down off Bluff (with the bottom of the abseils you have to get back to the top of Bluff to walk off Bluff)
Aiming to finish around 2pm to allow for those who wish to drive back to Perth, however it's a long day and you may prefer to stay an additional night at the retreat.

I enjoyed that it had different elements, day one was paddling the river and looking at the bush, a drink at the pub, the chance to have a spa on the Saturday night and then on the Sunday it was more Estuary.

Having the 2 Dolphins swim under us going up the river then seeing them come back past at lunch time was great

What a gem - serious bush walking wrapped around visits to a Belgian Chocolate Mill, tastings at a Cidery & the Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa.Beautiful accommodation in the Daylesford Manor House, just a short walk from the town centre. Visits to the Convent Gallery, Amazing Mill Markets & the Secret Garden Plant Centre rounded off a very upmarket walking holiday with Adventurous Women.

I'd never heard of AW before this, but liked what i learned about them and their walks and would certainly look at future walks with them.
