Itinerary

This morning we leave the city behind and head towards Port Wakefield where we stop at the Bakery for morning tea. Once on the road again we head for Mambray Creek where we break for lunch and get to stretch our legs.

After lunch, starting from Mambray Creek, we explore the 2.4 km Davey’s Gully Hike where the path is well worn and easy to navigate. Once in Davey's Gully we climb up the hill to take in the stunning views back overlooking Mt Remarkable National Park and then turning around, we enjoy the amazing views overlooking Spencers Gulf .

We head off to our final destination for the day, Whyalla where we check into our Apartment accommodation to freshen up before re-grouping to be taken on a City Sights Tour.

Once back at the accommodation, it's time to relax and enjoy a little sundowner, followed by a yummy dinner prepared by your guide.

Meals: Snack, Dinner

Today is sure to be a Highlight!! After breakfast we head off to Whyalla Dive Shop where we're kitted out for our "Snorkelling with the Giant Cuttlefish" Tour. Once in our gear, we're taken out to Point Lowly for a briefing before getting in the water with a professional dive master. We have plenty of time here to enjoy our experience, being able to stay in the water as long as we wish, with light refreshments are available for us to enjoy when not in the water.

What you're about to witness is a natural wonder attracting international divers, researchers and journalists to dive and snorkel to experience the aggregation of Giant Cuttlefish from May to August which is unique in the world to Whyalla. More Information about this phenomenon can be found here: https://www.whyalla.com/cuttlefish

Afterwards, it's back to the Dive Shop to 'gear down', before returning to our apartments to take a shower before re-grouping for lunch. Once lunch has finished you're welcome to spend the rest of your day at leisure if you wish, however your guide has a couple of options you may be interested in joining in.from 3pm onwards.

At 3pm your guide is available and will meet you in the carpark near the bus. You'll then have the option of being dropped off to take a stroll at your leisure along the foreshore and have a cuppa, or taken into town if you wish, while others enjoy a guided walk around the wetlands or a cuppa at the cafe there.

Tonight's dinner will be at the Sundowner Hotel (Guest own expense).

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack

After breakfast this morning, there's an optional hike available with your Guide from the Beach to Hummick Hill, descending to the marina to check out the dolphins that often come up really close to the jetty. For non-walkers, our guide will drop you off at the beach so you can go for a leisurely stroll along the pretty foreshore and grab a cuppa if you wish before joining the rest of the group to see if you can spot dolphins coming in.

We have allocated time once finished at the Marina for those who wish to go to the Whyalla Museum and take part in the HMAS Whyalla Tour before we begin our onward journey to Port Augusta.

Then it's time to hit the road to our next destination - The Arid Lands Botanical Gardens where we'll spend a good amount of time exploring the gardens and enjoy afternoon tea, before heading back to Adelaide.

We anticipate our arrival back to Adelaide at approximately 6.30pm

Had a great time, wanted to do this last year but had to work instead so was glad I was able to attend this time. I loved going to the gorges, after hiking/walking along and finding a beautiful oasis with a well earned swim, could have stayed all day in those places.
