The idea of our Farm & Trail Happy Camper is to provide you with fabulous walking opportunities, exploring the history of an area not so heavily trodden, while camping at a wonderful property, eating great food and enjoying the company of like-minded women.

Given the restrictions we've been working with surrounding COVID-19 and the call for more local adventures, we continue to offer a different component to some of our already existing Happy Camper Tours, as the inaugural one in June was a great success.  What we're talking about here is: Self Drive or Tag-a-long and BYO Camp Gear!  This won't be the case for all Happy Camper Trips, but it will certainly work for those who have a limited budget and have their own camping gear.  Of course we'll be providing the AW sparkle we're renowned for, including supply of some of the food, giving you a personalised adventure .. always a couple quirks, providing an AWesome AW camp host/guide and sourcing out some pretty cool camping destinations to introduce you to ....like the one we have on offer this time!!

Highlights

● The Farm Hike - Undefined trails, lesser known

● Greenbushes Loop Walk

● Abundant Wildlife & Birdlife

● Heritage Amble

Itinerary

12.30 pm - Arrive in Greenbushes and meet with our AW Host/Guide outside the Discovery Centre (38 Blackwood Rd, Greenbushes) where she'll conduct introductions and talk about the format of the afternoon activity and remainder of the day.

1.00 to 3.00 pm - We've got a fabulous activity arranged for you during this time ... and it's a great way to get to know each other, as you discover the heritage of this area. The Heritage Amble Activity is sure to bring about lots of laughs and is a great way to start your country getaway.

3.00pm - You'll then drive in convoy to the Maranup Ford Caravan Park & Farm located 10 minutes away. On arrival here ... check-in, set up your tents and settle in. Once set up and if time to spare, you may wish to wander the grounds of the Homestead and enjoy the garden and views of the area.

5.30 to 6.30pm - Pre dinner drinks (BYO)

6.30 to 7.30pm - Dinner

7.30pm onwards - Campfire (if fire bans allow)

Meals: Dinner

8.00 to 9.00 am - Continental Breakfast will be set up for you to enjoy and our guide will familiarise you with the plan for the day. When lunches are packed and the group is ready to go, you'll convoy to Greenbushes Loop Walk.

9.45am to 3.30 pm - Our guide will lead you on a walk along this pretty 15km trail or which 5km is along the Bibbulmun Track. You'll be passing picturesque Greenbushes Pool, a haven for wildlife. Birds and marsupials are abundant as well, and the waterway is rich with fish, turtles and marron. The walk then takes you through Jarrah and Marri forest where much of the area was subject to mining and logging from the late 1800’s to mid 1980’s ... there are several points of interest through this area. It's also the habitat for three endangered species of Cockatoos so there’s every chance of spotting some! There are several lovely spots along the way where the group will stop to enjoy both morning tea and lunch.

3.30pm - There's an option to have coffee/cake at Tasty Edibles before returning to Maranup Ford for showers, relaxation and pre dinner drinks & nibbles.

5.30 to 6.30pm - Pre-dinner drinks (BYO)

6.30 to 7.30pm - Dinner

7.30pm onwards - Campfire (if fire bans allow)

Grade/Style of Walk: Moderate - 90% of it is pretty flat, but there are a few sections that climb out of the valley and are a bit harder, also distance walked is a consideration when gauging if this is for you.

Meals: Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch, Dinner

7.00 to 7.30am - Breakfast is served and our Guide will chat about the walk/plan for the day.

8.00 to 12.30pm - Our Guide will take you on a gorgeous walk via the old homestead, providing you with some historical information along the way. The Browne Family have farmed this valley for five generations, and as such are a fantastic representation of farming history in this area and its role in the community ... she'll fill you in!

Grade/Style of Walk: Mostly easy but couple of uphills, and sometimes in paddock, not a defined trail. One particular hill is very rocky and quite steep, will get the heart rate up.

12.30 onwards - Pack up personal gear at your leisure and say goodbye's - There is no rush to leave the farm.

It certainly was highlights of the track - such a beautiful part of the south-west. There was so much of this trip to enjoy - the guides, the company, the scenic hike and the food.
