Length: 13km return
Grade: Medium-Easy / Reasonably Fit walkers
Join Chris our local AW host on the Somerset Trail walk in D'Aguilar National Park, Mount Mee. Considered by many to be one of the best bushwalks near Brisbane city it is a relatively easy and beautiful 13km return walk through a mixture of open country and pine forest, as well as pockets of rainforest and scribbly-gum.
At around the halfway point, there are a series of lookouts over Somerset Dam to the north and Lake Wivenhoe to the south, with a backdrop of the far mountain ranges.
This area was heavily logged in the past (hence the saw mill at The Gantry) but has regrown into a beautiful diverse bushland.
Please note: The day use area at The Gantry has toilets, picnic and BBQ facilities as well as a number of large resident goannas!
● Beautiful mixed forest walk
● The call of the bower birds
● Views over Somerset Dam and Lake Wivenhoe
