Say hello to Autumn with this stunning beach to bush walk from City Beach to Bold Park.
We will start our walk with a short 1km stroll through the City Beach neighbourhood and past Helston Park before crossing West Coast Highway into Bold Park. The connecting trail into the park consists of soft white sand on a slight hill but once we hit the Zamia Trail it is hard underfoot.
Here we start our 5.1km loop journey past patches of Zamias and towering Tuart trees toward Reabold Hill lookout. There are quite a few hilly sections of this track with time to catch our breath in between the inclines. The climbs are worth it though for the beautiful vistas across the City and to the Perth Hills and back towards the coastline. The summit of Reabold Hill, the highest natural point on the Swan Coastal Plain in the metropolitan area, standing at 85 metres tall, offers sweeping views over the Indian Ocean, the City and beyond to the Darling Scarp with glimpses of the Swan River.
Once we finish the loop we will head back over West Coast Highway and through City Beach where you can drop off your shoes at your car, grab your flask of tea (or whatever beverage you like) and a snack, before making the short walk to the beach with your guide to enjoy Western Australia glorious sunsets over the Indian Ocean. This walk is such a surprise to many, being that it's just a stone's throw away from the CBD, it has so much to variety to offer the bushwalking enthusiast, particularly at this time of day when the sun begins to set.
Important to Note:
Please note there are two carparks near South City Beach. You are looking for the car park across from beach entrance CMB43
Please arrive early or carpool, even though there are 25 car bays, if it's a busy day the next carpark is 100m north and you'll need time to walk down" please use the link to the location provided as there are a few car parks along this stretch of road. If you aren't sure, ring your guide Claire.
March can still be quite hot and although we are only doing 7km, it is still recommended you bring at least 2L of water.
